With the growing number of sequence records in INSDC member databases and the increasing meaning of
genetic information in biodiversity research, the need for FAIR-compliant identifiers referencing source
objects the sequences were derived from is growing. In the course of the EU-funded project BiCIKL, the
SpASe web service was developed to provide a simple and easy-to-use tool to search such identifiers. The
SpASe web service is based on a search API that browses specimen information systems such as DiSSCo,
GBIF and iDigBio.
This page provides an upload form to upload CSV, flat or FASTA files containing specimen
information. The specimen information in the file records are then sent to the API. Subsequently, SpASe
displays the results of the search in a editable table. The table can finally be downloaded in the same
format as the uploaded file.
